[Viral] Grab driver gives food, clothes to homeless people in the street

Nowadays, we're getting used to stories of abusive drivers that are being widely shared in social media. Believe it or not, some good drivers still exist. And while there may not be as many trending stories ever told about them, they do deserve to have a place in our newsfeeds.

Take for example this recent experience of Gelica Manuel Tulauan. A certified Grab fan, she preferred using the car app over traditional metered taxis for its security and convenience. Aware of the horrible stories of other taxi passengers, she really got paranoid on her recent booking service. However, that paranoia turned out to be false positive as the driver she got is a good samaritan working for Grab.

The good-samaritan-slash-Grab-driver who was identified as Carlo Santiago Diaz based on the app's records is apparently giving food and clothes to homeless people in the street on a regular basis. According to Tulauan's narration, Diaz and his friends have been doing this simple act of kindness to help those less fortunate that frequent the streets of Metro Manila.

"Araw-araw kasi, magda-drive ka, makikita mo sila lalo na sa gabi na nakahiga sa bangketa. Madalas mga gutom, pero itinutulog na lang yung gutom nila. Kaya naisip naming gawin `to. Para at least, makatulong kaming malamnan yung mga tiyan nila kahit isang gabi lang," Diaz said.

"Sabi ng marami, dapat yung mga ganun daw tinutulungan ng gobyerno. Naisip namin, bakit mo naman hihintayin pa ang gobyerno kung pwedeng ikaw mismo ang gumawa?", Diaz added.

Who would've thought that a simple Grab driver, probably in his 20's as Tulauan assumed, would do an inspiring work like this without getting anything in return. This story deserves to be shared and be featured in the news for all of us to realize that we can always help others through our own little ways.

In case you haven't seen this post on your newsfeed, here's Tulauan's original post on her Facebook account. It currently has more than 44,000 reactions and over 8,000 shares as of this writing.
