Ang Pinakamalaking Balita sa Kasaysayan ng Pagbabalita

As ABS-CBN News advertised it, tonight's going to be a historical event for Philippine news. Veteran and award-winning Kapamilya news anchors Ted Failon, Noli de Castro and Korina Sanchez will be reunited on prime time news program TV Patrol.
But what made it more 'historical' is our version of sensationalized news. Yes, we, Kapamilyas, Kapusos, Kapatids and the others are over rating this so-called 'monumental event.'

Of course, ABS-CBN and GMA are threatened with that pangmasa game show of Willie Revillame in TV5 being inserted to the traditional prime time news slot. They really have to do something in order to maintain their ratings especially that Shalani Soledad is joining Willing Willie.

ABS-CBN was able to grab two positive things on this newly reformatted TV Patrol. Not only that they were able to welcome two of their priceless news talents Korina and Noli, they were also able to produce great advertisement for the show. The downside of this decision is that, former TV Patrol anchors Karen Davila and Julius Babao were just kicked out of the scene.

Just this morning, Karen Davila was a no-show to her ANC morning program. It was also reported on another entertainment portal that she and Christine Babao, wife of Julius Babao, are switching networks from ABS-CBN to TV5.

On GMA's camp, Mel Tiangco was recalled from her vacation in Australia to solidify 24 Oras. While Kara David, another Kapuso broadcast journalist, tweeted that 24 Oras remains the country's most awarded news program both in the local and international scene. She also tweeted that Kapuso news is still the most credible news group in the country. GMA consistently commercialized 24 Oras and Saksi, the Kapuso banner news programs, to keep their loyal viewers. And for those who noticed it, they even said that they are 'walang bahid pulitika' probably pertaining to the Kapamilya returnees Noli de Castro (former Vice President) and Korina Sanchez (wife of Sen. Mar Roxas).

What a great competition! Let's see who'll win this night. Remember, more than TV ratings, quality of their news contents is still important in news reporting.
