Review: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Ever caught yourself in a DRIFT?

A drift occurs when you allow circumstances make decisions for you. One may not notice it at first, but as you reflect on it, one may notice that your life have been on an autopilot mode.

"Life is happening to you rather than you being in charge."

This quote best explains how a drift occurs. Some may recognize it as mid-life crisis, but it's that phase in one's life that you want to do everything, try everything, experience everything, having a daily standard response of  "why not?" to everything that is happening.

Enter Walter Mitty. Walter is your typical middle-aged man going through the day at work making all ends meet. Walter is often in a drift, living on his daydream, a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. He finally awaken from his dream when his job was at cost. He decided to come out of his comfort zone and embark in a journey across the globe to find the one thing that will help him save his job. He did not expect it to be an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.

Everyone can relate to Walter Mitty. We all have been in that drift. When Walter finally found out what mattered most in his life, and started to reach out for it, that's the time he was out of the drift. We need to get out of it and start taking charge of our own life. All we need is just the willpower to push ourselves out of the drift. A little inspiration won't hurt either.

You can still catch The Secret Life of Walter Mitty in your nearest cinemas. Watch it and Seize the day, Claim your life back.
