Joyce Bernal confirms Alden Richards in 'My Love From The Star' remake

It started as a fan-initiated idea. When AlDub was at its peak of its hype last year, fans have been requesting a movie and teleserye project for Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. A fan-made video recommended a Filipino version of the hit koreanovela My Love From The Star. That's probably where GMA got the idea that they could invest with AlDub and tap them to do the widely followed korean series.

Recently, award-winning director Joyce Bernal confirmed that Alden Richards will be playing the male lead role of Matteo Do of the series My Love From The Star originally played by Korean superstar Kim Soo Hyun. She will also be directing the said upcoming Kapuso primetime series.

However, the director did not confirm the actress that will be playing Jun Ji-hyun's role in the series although she also wants Maine Mendoza to bag it saying "Tried and tested na kasi ang tambalan nila."

No schedule yet for the airing of the new My Love From The Star as, according to Bernal, they might prioritize first the AlDub movie as it is slated to be released on their anniversary this July.

My Love From The Star is Alden Richards's comeback project in primetime. His last teleserye was Ilustrado in 2014.
